Djokovic Survives Scare To Reach Round Two

Novak Djokovic Avoids Early French Open Exit, Moves Closer to Historic Milestone

Djokovic Survives Scare to Reach Round Two

In a thrilling late-night match, Novak Djokovic narrowly escaped an early exit from the French Open, coming back from a set down to defeat Aljaz Bedene 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. The victory moved Djokovic into the second round, where he will face Hugo Dellien.

Historic Achievement in Sight

With his victory over Bedene, Djokovic moved to within two wins of completing his third sweep of all nine ATP Masters 1000 titles. Djokovic has already won the Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo, Madrid, and Rome Masters this year, and a victory at Roland Garros would make him the first man in history to win all nine Masters titles in a single season.

Medvedev, Cerundolo Advance

Also advancing to the third round on Friday were Daniil Medvedev and Francisco Cerundolo. Medvedev defeated Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets, while Cerundolo upset seventh seed Andrey Rublev. Medvedev and Cerundolo will face each other in the round of 16 on Saturday.
